March is National Color Therapy Month, which recognizes the importance of color in our daily lives. Some believe that coloring has helpful energies for soothing moods and feelings. Eleyne-Mari, implemented Color Therapy Month in 2011. She was the founder of the Aura House of Color and Light in 2003 and initiated the Color Healing Radio program in 2009. Her goal was to show that color can be used for healing purposes and bring joy to those who try it. Although Eleyne-Mari brought focus to color therapy, it has roots in ancient healing philosophies in China, Egypt, Greece, India, and Egypt.
The Main Library has a Color Station on each floor with crayons with drawings on a variety of subjects. Meaghanne Hooberry, Senior Library Assistant, coordinates the library’s color therapy program. This month the third-floor area outside of the elevator has received a new bulletin board for displaying coloring art from TSU students.
