February 8 was the first meeting for Got Resources?, a program I have started at GodWhy Church in Hendersonville focused on showing the public how to access different Open Educational Resources (OERs) through the Tennessee State University Library website. This is intended to be a monthly program. Each month, I will teach attendees how to utilize a different OER.
Our first meeting was a success! I showed my attendees how to use OER Commons, which they were incredibly impressed with. Both are involved in teaching. One of them loved the variety of resources they were able to find in OER Commons. The other was thrilled that they could access a variety of textbooks through OER Commons as they feel this would be beneficial to their students. I am really looking forward to working with these people in the future and am excited to see this program grow over the coming months.
OER Commons provides resources for people of all ages. You can select the level of resource you are looking for by grade level to ensure your search provides you with resources you can use. There are a variety of resources available through OER Commons, including videos, journal articles, books, textbooks, lectures, etc. It is an amazing resource if youโre doing research or even if you just want to learn more about a subject you are interested in.
With this being a public program, all are invited to attend. If you are interested in joining one of these sessions, you can reach me, Nicole Troutman, at ntroutm1@tnstate.edu for details.
