Government Documents

Tennessee State University Brown-Daniel Library has been a selective depository for United States Government Documents since 1972. The library is one of five in the 5th Congressional District of Tennessee.

Any member of the public may access U.S. government information in the Brown-Daniel Library as mandated by law.

Federal depository resources are available and usable for all library patrons irrespective of library affiliation, disability, age, technology barriers, residency, or other patron status. Providing free access to the depository collection is a fundamental obligation of all federal depository libraries.

The depository collects materials from the departments of Agriculture, Defense, Justice, and select legislative and Congressional hearings and reports.

Locating Documents

The physical collection is housed on the Second Floor and is arranged by Superintendent of Documents (SuDoc) Classification System, which organizes publications by issuing agency rather than by subject. Each shelf with government documents has a clearly marked FDLP eagle logo sign.

Any questions about how to find government publications, or how they might be useful in your research, please contact Aaron Khan.
