Disability Services

The Tennessee State University Libraries and Media Center are intentional about providing the best possible access to library collections, services, and facilities for all library users. It is a priority for the TSU Libraries and Media Center to select and acquire, whenever possible, resources and technologies that are accessible to all and compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. If any library resources are not accessible, we are committed to providing reasonable accommodations and timely access to users with disabilities.

The Brown-Daniel Library has four workstations for disabled patrons; two are located on the first floor in front of the Access Services Desk and two are located on the second floor next to the Reference Desk. The Avon Williams Library has one workstation for disabled patrons.

Each workstation includes:

  • screen reader software (e.g. JAWS 15)
  • speech recognition software (e.g. DragonNaturally Speaking 11.5)
  • literacy support software (e.g. Kurtzweil 3000)
  • scanner for Optical Character Recognition (OCR)
  • electric adjustable table
  • ergonomic chair
  • etc.

The Office of Disability Services can be contacted for information and assistance with devices that will help with library use.
