Department of Homeland Security
The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is a cabinet department of the U.S. federal government with responsibilities in public security, roughly comparable to other countries' interior or home ministries. Its stated missions involve anti-terrorism, border security, immigration and customs, cyber security, and disaster prevention and management. It was created in response to the September 11 attacks and is the youngest U.S. cabinet department.

Computer Emergency Readiness Team
The United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team (US-CERT) is a branch of the Office of Cybersecurity and Communications (CS&C) National Cybersecurity and Communications Integration Center (NCCIC). US-CERT analyzes and reduces cyber threats and vulnerabilities, disseminates cyber threat warning information, and coordinates incident response activities.

 

Federal Emergency Management Agency
FEMA coordinates the response to major disasters in the United States. The governor of the relevant state must declare a state of emergency and formally request from the President that FEMA and the federal government respond to the disaster. The only exception to the state's gubernatorial declaration state' sment occurs when an emergency or disaster occurs on federal property or to a federal asset.
Office of Intelligence and Analysis
The Office of Intelligence and Analysis (I&A) is the civilian national intelligence component of the United States Department of Homeland Security. It is the only member of the IC tasked with providing intelligence to State, Local, Tribal, and Territorial (SLTT) governments and private sector entities and developing national intelligence products from information collected by SLTT entities.
Transportation Security Administration
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has authority over the security of transportation systems within and connecting to the United States. Its purpose is to improve airport security procedures. The TSA develops key policies to protect the U.S. transportation system, including highways, railroads, bus networks, mass transit systems, ports, pipelines, and intermodal freight facilities.

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) administers the country's naturalization and immigration system. USCIS duties include processing and adjudicating various immigration matters, including applications for work visas, asylum, and citizenship. Additionally, the agency is officially tasked with safeguarding national security, maintaining immigration case backlogs, and improving efficiency.
United States Coast Guard
The United States Coast Guard (USCG) is the maritime security, search and rescue, and law enforcement service branch of the United States Armed Forces. The service is a maritime, military, multi-mission service unique among the United States military branches for having a maritime law enforcement mission with jurisdiction in both domestic and international waters and a federal regulatory agency mission as part of its duties. 
United States Customs and Border Protection
United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is the country's primary border control organization. It regulates and facilitates international trade, collects import duties, and enforces U.S. regulations, including trade, customs, and immigration. CBP is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in the United States. Headquartered in Washington, D.C., it has a workforce of more than 45,600 federal agents and officers.

 

United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement's (ICE) mission is to protect the United States from cross-border crime and illegal immigration that threaten national security and public safety. ICE enforces more than 500 federal statutes. It focuses on customs violations, immigration enforcement, terrorism prevention, and combating the illegal movement of people and goods. 
United States Secret Service
The United States Secret Service is a federal law enforcement agency conducting criminal investigations and protecting U.S. political leaders, their families, and visiting heads of state or government. The agency was founded in 1865 to combat the then-widespread counterfeiting of U.S. currency. In 1901, the Secret Service was also assigned to presidential protection duties.
