Mitchell Chamberlain, Access Services Librarian for the Avon Williams Library, is also an experienced local artist. His work has been displayed both locally and regionally, and he has many of his works on display around the Avon Williams Library. Mr. Chamberlain will exhibit some of his work in the Art Corner on the first floor of the Brown-Daniel Library. Please stop by to admire his work and possibly be inspired yourself to try your hand at painting. Mr. Chamberlain is always happy to help aspiring artists and periodically teaches art classes around Nashville.

Mr. Chamberlain says of the exhibit: "My paintings portray nature in its many colors, textures, and moods. Nature as an artistic subject is neither passé or irrelevant. The drama that humans so readily identify in their own lives occurs daily in nature. Even the casual observer can see the activities of birth, death, struggle with the elements, and competition for survival. Likewise, nature acts with both dramatic and subtle force. A hurricane can rip trees from the ground, while a gentler, but unrelenting wind can mold trees into expressive forms. Water, in torrents, can change the course of a river, or by drips or flow, can sculpt an arch or a cave. Look closely at nature and you will find an endless array of patterns and textures that have been formed by the erosive effects of wind and water."
