Special Collections

Mission

The aim of the TSU’s Special Collections and Archives Department is to: collect, preserve, and house all possible information relating to the history of Tennessee State University, special contributions made by alumni, and publications from or about the university, as well as publications of former and current faculty members.

About

The TSU Special Collections and Archives include African American books, digital resources, bibliographies of the Nashville Afro-American Culture & History Conference, which is sponsored by TSU, official publications of the university, student publications, brochures, minutes of committees and organizations, photographs, and other materials relating to the University.

Special Collections is located on the east wing of the Library and on the third floor of the Brown-Daniel Library on the Main Campus. Reference services are available from:
Monday - Thursday: 8:00 a.m.- 4:45 p.m. Friday 8:00 a.m. -  4:15 p.m.

Special Collections is open by appointment only.

We are closed Saturday, Sunday and all Holidays.
Researchers planning to visit the Archives are encouraged to make an appointment.
