Finding National Statistics

When looking for government data in the United States there are a few good websites to know:

Data.gov - Open information about the United States

Census.gov - The United States Census Bureau

BLS.gov - The Bureau of Labor Statistics

You may notice that each of these websites has .gov at the end of their address. One excellent way to find more government sites is to go to Google.com, type in (subject you are researching) statistics site:.gov , and search. For example, if you are interested in education you can go to Google and type in "education statistics site:.gov", and then search. You can see the results here: https://tinyurl.com/3twkvbab

If you are looking for non-government statistics for the US you can look here:

WorldData.info - has information on the United States and other countries

Data.WorldBank.org - has information on the United States and other countries

Data.OECD.org - has information on the United States and other countries

There are also statistics on some subject guides.

You can find statistics for Tennessee on many government websites. One website specific to Tennessee is TN.gov. You can also find information on Tennessee using our guide: https://tnstate.libguides.com/tennessee
