The Chicago Manual of Style, 17th Edition, Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association 7th Edition (APA), and the MLA Handbook 9th Edition (Modern Language Association) are the current iterations of the guideline manuals for the most widlet citation styles used. Each has its own different, unique rules and formats.
A copy of the Chicago Manual of Style and MLA Handbook can be found at both the Main and Avon Williams Campuses.
A copy of the APA style guide is available on the Main Campus only.
Each of these citation guides contains different rules on how to cite government documents and information. Please cite any information utilized from these collections based on your professor's guidelines.
Citing Government Information in Chicago, APA, and MLA Formats
Chicago- It is recommended that you follow the guidelines set forth in The Bluebook: A Uniformed System of Citation or the ALWD Guide to Legal Citation
APA- Government documents are treated as Books, Technical/Research Reports, and Brochures (The George Washington University, Himmelfarb Health Science Library)
