Definition of Business Information Systems

  • Business Information Systems  is the study of Computer Science in relation to the fields of of business and organizations.

  • It examines computers and algorithmic processes, including their software and hardware designs, their applications, and their impact on groups, bureaucracies, corporations, small business, schools, and so on.

  • Information studies in a more general aspect is the science of handling information and its digital methods of transmission in society and organizations. Information studies more specifically are concerned with computer hardware and software aspects of BIS.

  • Information studies include the databases, application programs and manual and machine procedures involved. It also encompasses the computer systems that do the processing.
